This sweet couple had a lovely, intimate ceremony with family and close friends. There were beautiful flowers and tasty treats, twinkling lights and a pervading spirit of quiet joy. The Bride was simply radiant in her mother's wedding gown. The Groom was handsome and full of smiles. After the ceremony, we used the grounds around the Prayer Chapel to capture some gorgeous images of the happy newlyweds. Here are just a few highlights from the day.

I was so pleased that Liz and Derrick allowed me to capture their very special day. I wish them great happiness for all of their wedded days. I know that God will richly bless their married life together.

A very special engagement

I captured LeeOra and Ryan's portraits on a lovely Fall day in the mountains of Amherst, VA. We started in the hayfield and wound up by a scenic lake, having in the meantime climbed boulders, waded in a waterfall, traversed the underside of a bridge and rolled around in the leaves. From the ever so carefully posed and lit portraits to some adorably silly snapshots in between, it was great fun. LeeOra and Ryan were willing to got the extra mile to allow me to get these shots and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. And needless to say, we got some really fabulous images! Take a peek at some of my favorites from an afternoon spent with this very sweet couple.

I love being a wedding photographer. And it is weddings like this one that make that statement a fact.

Tayler and Rickie's beautiful wedding day was filled with so many charming details and unforgettable memories. It was hard to choose just a handful of images to share. As a bride, Tayler was the perfect combination of sweetness and elegance. Rickie was a handsome and dapper groom. They made a wonderful couple and were truly a delight to work with. The wedding ceremony was refined and meaningful and lovely in all aspects. At the reception, the warmth and laughter of their family and friends created a cheerful atmosphere set upon a ballroom backdrop of twinkling candles, vibrant flowers and happy music. Amanda and Jay's wedding took place at the always elegant West Manor, surrounded by rolling hills and green pastures. The bridal party were resplendent in a Fall palette of teal, brown and green. The very lovely floral arrangements, provided by The Arrangement Company, included touches of purple and soft feather accents, pulling together the peacock theme very beautifully.

The Bride was simply stunning. Her sweet smiles and radiant persona set a bright background for all of the day's festivities. The dapper Groom was charming and easy going. As a couple they were gracious and happy and very much filled with that beautiful newlywed glow. Surrounded by warm, welcoming family and friends, they joined their lives together forever. From the exquisite ceremony to the elegant (but very merry) reception, Amanda and Jay's wedding day was gorgeous from beginning to end.

Jennifer and Phillip were married at the Old Pate Chapel, surrounded by the blessings of their wonderful family and friends. Their wedding day was filled with so many fun and unexpected events and happenings that it was definitely a day to remember and enjoy for everyone lucky enough to have been invited. From the Groom's grand entrance into the ceremony to the "Rocky" theme song, to a choreographed song and dance by the Bride and gals at the reception, to a "Mission Impossible" removal of the garter; Jennifer and Phillip's special day truly was unique and well planned and fun for everyone involved. Alright, I'll stop there. But, only because I have SO many more lovely images from this day still waiting to be finished. It was a beautiful, sunny summer day when Amanda and Bobby tied the knot. Their ceremony was lovely and heartfelt with lots of smiles and happy tears. Their reception was fun and romantic and pretty, with lots of colorful details and clever ideas. The newlyweds were so fun and their whole bridal party was so laid back and easy to work with that we were able to capture some terrific images of their very special day. Here's a little preview:

An old friend of the family called me up to book a portrait session for her beautiful, sweet granddaughter. She assured me that I would be amazed at the genuine sweetness and beauty of her precious little girl and indeed I was! On the day of the session, Miss Macayle came tripping into my studio like a happy-blond-blue-eyed little ray of sunshine! What a sweetheart! In the studio, outside in the courtyard and then in the park she was patient and sweet natured and just a happy-go-lucky joy to work with. Half of the time, I didn't even have to pose her--she just naturally knew what to do. We all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of running, twirling, swinging, giggling...oh, and we also took a few pictures, too!! Here are some highlights from our session:

Melissa and Charlie got Married

...on a lovely day in June. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and things were bustling at the beautiful Memorial Christian Church. The girls were busily putting on the finishing touches; laughing, chatting and snapping pictures. All of the meticulous planning was done and the day-of getting ready process was relaxed and happy.

The lush greenery made an absolutely perfect background for those gorgeous purple dresses

Jerrica and Tom's Lovely Wedding Day

I first got to know Jerrica and Tom when I captured their engagement portraits. They were so sweet and easy to work with that I knew their wedding day was really going to be something special. And I was right!!

When we arrived at the church on that bright sunny day there were pretty flowers and pretty girls everywhere.

The expressions on the couple's faces throughout the ceremony were so wonderful to behold; happy tears and tremulous smiles. It quite literally brought a tear to my eye.

The Groom painstakingly restored this gorgeous vintage Camaro to it's former glory and planned to use it as the getaway car from the church.

It was a warm, sunny day in June when Brandy and Adam said "I do". They chose the beautiful Maridor in Roanoke, VA as the venue for their blessed union. Surrounded by family and friends, they pledged their love and lives to one another in a lovely outdoor ceremony, beneath the boughs of giant shade trees.

The reception took place in the elegant ballroom filled with beautiful flowers, twinkling lights and the heartfelt well wishes of their guests.

Peacocks and Ghostbusters

I had the distinct enjoyment of capturing Lisa and Jeff's beautiful peacock themed wedding. It was meticulously planned, flawlessly executed and thoroughly enjoyed by all who had the honor of being invited..including me! Having done Lisa's bridal portraits (which I am DYING to share with the world, BTW---1930 Packard, vineyard, mountains, gorgeous bride...you get the idea), I already knew that I could expect her lovely sense of style to be apparent in all of the bridal accoutrements and decor. And having enjoyed a couple of lively conversations with Jeff, I had a pretty strong feeling, going in, that this was going to be a fun wedding. And I was not disappointed on either count.

The girls were pretty in peacock and Lisa was just breathtaking!

Priceless moment

Worth a million words

The colors at the reception (held at the lovely Tresca on 8th) just popped! I couldn't have taken a bad picture if I had tried. There was just prettiness everywhere!

About halfway through the reception, the B&G had to go out back and bust some ghosts. That's right. You didn't misread it. There was ghostbusting to be done and thank goodness they brought along their PKE meter and Jeff's handmade Proton Pack. We took some pictures of them in action.

Who you gonna call?

The newlyweds "...slugged it out with a pretty pesky poltergeist, then stayed on to dance the night away..." at their lovely reception.

It was difficult to choose which images to share here, because there were so many striking pictures to choose from. But, I think this gives you an idea of how special this day really was. Everything was so pretty and every person that we came in contact with that day was just wonderful. Jeff and Lisa and their families were truly a joy to work with. I am honored that they chose me to play a little part in their magical day.

I was really excited to capture Christina and Scott's wedding. First of all, they are both just really nice people. Secondly, Christina is gorgeous. I mean, like, GOR-geous. A photographer's dream (I cannot WAIT to share her Bridal Portraits!). And they both love to dance. And they are good at it. And they are a striking couple. Meaning prettiness AND fun. All together. So, I was stoked.

I have compiled a few highlight images that we captured on their happy day. I have a couple of thousand or so more in the process of being edited, but ENJOY this little sneak peek!!

Stacie&Ivan got Married

I don't have time to do this wedding the justice it deserves, via written word, because I want to get this published before the B&G head off for their second wedding someplace much warmer, sunnier and sandier. So I will just throw out a handful of descriptive words and phrases that, in this humble wedding photographer's opinion, aptly describe Stacie&Ivan's special day. Here goes:

Romantic, but real. Elegance and a beer keg. Family and friends. Genuine happiness. Fun and funny. Moms-Dads-brothers-dogs-just-so-very-much-love. Cake, flowers, ribbons, lights, Tequila Rose, pretty, pretty things everywhere. Lighthearted and sophisticated. Food, laughter, dancing, punch, toasts. Tears, happy and sad together. Dancing and joy. Conversation and generosity. Warmth. Honest well wishes. Love, forever. Happily ever after.

Winter Wonderland Wedding

Kim and Michael were married on a bright beautiful day in February on the lovely campus of Sweet Briar College. The rich blue and silver hues of the wedding colors were strikingly vibrant in the clear winter sunshine and provided the perfect background for us to capture the happy couple's pictures. The ceremony was formal but warm and open; uniting the customs of both families in a smooth and flawless fashion. At the reception, the Bride and Groom were full of romance and joy, all surrounded by the loving family and lively friends who shared their special day.

Kim's glorious smile, Michael's confident glow, the joyful well wishes of their guests. All of these things came together to create a remarkable atmosphere of romance, fun and happy energy.

I was so pleased to have the opportunity to capture the spirit and beauty of Kim and Michael's distinctive Winter Wonderland wedding. Elegant, stylish and refined. But never stuffy. Never stale. Always lighthearted and cool and just...real. In short, Tiffany and Spencer's wedding day was a joy to capture. The people were accommodating and kind. The decor was beautiful and well designed. The Bride and Groom were patient and gracious and just all around lovely to work with. It was my first wedding of 2011 and I can only hope that all of my upcoming events are half so pleasant as this one.

Becca's Closet

A month or so ago, I had 2 young ladies from E.C. Glass High School's Student Council Association stop by my studio. They were sweet, well spoken gals and they were on a mission: Becca's Closet. This wonderful organization gives less fortunate high schoolers who wouldn't normally be able to attend formal events an opportunity to join the fun by providing FREE formal wear. On their own time, these gals were out and about soliciting local businesses for donations. One of the things they needed were some cool pictures to help promote their cause. Their dedication to this project was so admirable, and the cause so very worthy that I jumped on board. We set up a session date at the Old City Cemetery.

When the session date arrived, it was so fun to see all of the girls pull in with their carloads of colorful, stylish gowns. There was a dress for every possible type of occasion, event or personality! We had a blast mixing it up with all of the different colors and styles. We borrowed ideas from everywhere--- from Juicy Couture to Christian Dior, the girls were ready to pull out all the stops and help create these awesome images to support their cause!

We even grabbed a coupla' quick glammy images in the studio-FUN-FUN-FUN!!!

All-in all, it was a lovely day with lovely girls (inside and out) and lovely dresses, all in support of a very lovely cause. All of the beautiful gowns were generously donated by Celebration Bridal in downtown Lynchburg. Be sure to remember this gracious donation by the ladies at Celebration when you find yourself in need of some simply smashing formal attire.
